Physically demanding and extremely difficult is a pretty accurate description of what apprentice lineman duties are. From having to dig cables and place utility poles that carry cable signals and electricity to the installation of underground systems, there is a boatload of manual labor that is required of those with apprentice lineman jobs that it is absolutely mandatory for anyone in this profession to be physically fit and able to take the constant beating that they are forced to.

However, while this career might seem like something that no one would want to touch with a ten foot pole, the fact that an individual can get paid for on-the-job training consisting of seven thousand hours before they complete their apprenticeship and become a journeyman with the potential to make an incredibly impressive salary takes this profession from difficult to desirable. Throughout a daily and weekly basis, there will be a lot of working with a team of professionals that generally consist of apprentice and journeyman lineman.

Depending on the situation, there are also going to be times when an apprentice lineman works with electrical designers as they are the ones who put everything together in the beginning in terms of electrical system designs and drawings as well as creating a procedure guide and material list. Working under the supervision of journeyman lineman, while it may seem like a babysitting job for the more experience, is actually quite helpful for the young apprentice workers as they will need all of the help and professional tips that the journeyman employees have to provide. Although an apprentice lineman has many different duties that they are responsible for, putting it into one small statement would be that they are responsible for installing electrical and telecommunication networks.

Altogether, even though an individual in this profession has some pretty steep requirements in being physically fit as well as possessing the ability to learn and adapt quickly, those that stay persistent and dedicated will be rewarded in the end with an outstanding apprentice lineman salary.
