When bats are driving your batty then it is necessary for you to find some type of pest control that you can use to get them out of your home. Usually bats will not fly inside your home, but there have been stories told by families who found time to bond by hiding in one room waiting for the bat to escape out of an open window. Usually these creatures like to get in the ventilation of a person’s home and fly around in parts where it is hard to catch them. Since this is the area that they like being in the most there are only a few things that can be done in order to get rid of them.

One of the first things that come to mind when people think about bat control is to poison the bats. However, if you do that then you are going to have to get into the tight space that the dead bat is located in and get it out. This is something that is hard to do, but if it is not done then the dead bat will emit an odor that will bother you a lot more than the live bat did. The preferred pest control method is to wait until the bat is out of the ventilation space and put up a screen over the vents that it usually flies through. Plus there is no poison labeled to kill bats because bats are a protected species.

The most common area that bats get in are were the roof line meets the soffit area. This is very common when gables are present and also on split level homes. Other areas are chimneys and attic vents. If your attic vent has a screen on the bottom of it then it is possible that bats can squeeze in there. The best attic vent is the kind with a slitted plastic bottom on it. This keeps birds and bats out for good.

There are other ways that you can use pest control to get rid of the bats in your home. If you are not good at climbing a ladder to put the screen over the attic vents then make sure to find out what other methods are available. The sounds that a bat makes while it is flying around in your home can be very nerve wracking but there are other things that bats do which are just as bad. Make sure to find a method that you are comfortable using and get rid of the bat problem you are currently having.
