Black Mold in Bathroom – Control it Using DIY Mold Spray

If you are having a bathroom mold problem and have already tried numerous ways to control it, this article is for you. Mold in bathrooms is not always simple to remove and can often be quite a challenge. Many of these store bought “mold Sprays” whether it be concrobium, bleach alternatives or whatever, are simply ways for companies to get inside your pocketbook or wallet. While some may have merit, the three naturally occurring substances below are proven to be just as effective. Using the 3 home made alternatives below will certainly ease the pressure on your finances as well as offering some sort of security. The security comes from knowing they are made of completely all natural ingredients mixed by you and not made from ingredients you may be unable to pronounce.

The first is plain old straight distilled white vinegar, while this can be a fairly aromatic solution it has been proven time and time again to take care of your bathroom mold removal problems. Simply wet the surface area where mildew or mold is present and allow the solution to dry naturally, if needed retreat as necessary. Ventilating the room may be necessary until it has dried.

The second solution which works great against the dreaded black stuff is tea tree oil. When mixed at a ratio of 2 teaspoon to 2 cups of water, this will yield a potent and natural mold and mildew killer. Simply combine the mixture in a clean spray bottle, spray on and let air dry naturally. The shelf life of this mold killer in indefinite so be sure to mix plenty and have it on hand for maintenance cleaning. This is a tad more expensive than the vinegar solution but will not carry the same pungency either.

The third solution is a little less known but is certainly as effective as the others and that is GSE otherwise known as Grapefruit Seed Extract. This also is more expensive than the vinegar solution but has absolutely no smell whatsoever. That property alone is what makes it my mold control spray of choice simply because I do not have to put up with the smell as it dries.  Preparation is the same as tea tree oil but instead, add approximately 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract to the 2 cups water, shake well and spray directly on your moldy spots. Allow to dry and viola you should start to see less and less mold as time goes on.

When dealing with a black mold bathroom problem you are not limited to what the “big box” stores try to sell you. Rest assured in knowing that there are other all natural solutions that will not break your finances and leave you healthier as well.
