I’m really enjoying playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook. Some weeks I do better than others but I’m usually at the top of the list of high scores among my friends. The strategy to getting a high score is moving fast and getting the multipliers as early as you can.

To move fast, what I do is basically split the screen into 2 or 4 sections. I’ll work from the top left, to top right, to bottom left to bottom right. Make a move then go to the next section. Don’t wait to see what happened – you’ll get back there soon. When you look at the section you’re working on, make the best move you can quickly. Don’t think about it too much. This is a fast moving game with lots going on, so just make the best move you see then move on to the next section of the screen without waiting to see what happens. The trick here is to move on to a part of the screen which you know won’t be affected by what you just did.

When you look for your best move, try to eliminate as many gems as you can. Doing that will get you the multipliers, which brings up your score.

Also, someone showed me a site called www.bejeweled-blitz.com which sort of has an older version of the game that lasts about 10 minutes. You can get a score in the millions but it doesn’t count as your high score on Facebook. It’s a good place to practice and still lots of fun.
