There are many different devices on the market today. The best rice cooker for me may not be the same for you. In this article I shall discuss a variety of rice steaming appliances and what makes them worthy of consideration, or not.
Cheap Rice Cooker
Some people are primarily concerned with price and therefore a cheap rice cooker is the optimum choice. There are many decent models that fall into this category including units like the Panasonic SRG06FG and the Black and Decker RC3303. They are simple electronic devices to operate and do a good job of cooking rice. One of the things that makes these machines really attractive is that they have a glass lid. This means you can see what is going on inside the cooker as it makes your rice. With more expensive models you cannot see what is happening unless you open the lid. And doing so is not really advisable because all the steam will escape.
Low cost rice cookers are simple electrical appliances. They do not contain any complex computer chip sets to control their operation.
Micom Rice Cooker
This is another type of rice cooker, the Micom. This stands for Micro Computerized. If you want a device that features this component it will cost you more money. But it will be a better rice cooker in terms of the quality of the rice that it can produce. The question you have to ask yourself is the following: is it worth spending quite a bit more money to get a cooker that makes rice that tastes a bit better?
Anyone who eats rice regularly may want to go for a more expensive rice cooker such as a Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 or a Sanyo ECJ HC55S. They look like impressive kitchen appliances and the quality of the food that they prepare is excellent.
