Advantages of Buying a Used Treadmill
Buying a used treadmill is not unlike buying a new treadmill. There are things that you would look for and want in a new treadmill and there is no reason why anyone shopping for a cheap used treadmill should have to compromise those features and functions if that is what they desire. It is a good way of saving a lot of money simply by buying a second hand machine that still has a lot of useful life left. There is a difference between a used treadmill and a refurbished treadmill that warrants some consideration.
A refurbished treadmill means that the machine probably does not have a lot of use if any at all. This is because refurbished treadmills usually had some manufacturer defect originally and was returned to the factory for repair. Once the unit has been properly fixed and tested it cannot be listed as used and therefore is sold at a significantly discounted price. A used treadmill, in contrast, has been used by the previous owner and therefore will usually be a lot more worn than a refurbished unit but will probably sell at an even lower price to compensate for the wear that comes with it.
For some people who would go to the gym only to use the treadmill, owning one offers the convenience of being able to workout at home. A series of monthly gym membership fees will usually pay for one of these machines so it makes sense for some people to simply own their own machines. The most important part of the treadmill to inspect before making the purchase is the motor. If this part fails it will cause a lot of headache and cost a lot of money to repair. This makes the warranty that much more important regardless of whether the treadmill is purchased new or used. The warranty should cover at least the cost of replacement parts of the motor for approximately nine to twelve months.
