Advantages of Coffee Pods

Written by Original Source | Posted in Coffee

If you want to brew one cup of coffee at a time, coffee pods are for you. But with so many to choose from, whether it is the right flavor or the right size for your machine, you need to know what you are buying or you will be disappointed.

The main advantages of coffee pods over semi-automatic machines are that you do need to measure out your coffee grounds. There is no messing about experimenting with just a bit more or just a bit less until you get the taste just right for you. You just unwrap the pod, pop it in your pod brewer or adapter filter of your main machine and out comes a great tasting coffee each time. You also do not have any mess to clear up. There are no spilled grounds on your work top and no messy portafilter to knock out. There is just a used pod to pop in the bin.

The main problems with coffee pods are that you need to find the right ones for your machine. There is one standard size, called the ESE coffee pod, which is 44mm. This will fit in any machine that bears the ESE logo. There are also two other sizes that might confuse the issue – the 55mm pod which makes two shots of espresso and the 62mm size which is needed in certain makes of machine.

There are many varieties of coffee pods, such as cappuccino, decaffeinated, dark roast and flavored, and you can even get tea pods. It may be worth trying to sample some of the brands and flavors before buying a machine so that you can buy a coffee maker that is compatible with your favorite. You also need to make sure you know where you can buy coffee pods from for your machine once you have bought it. Buying in bulk packs is usually going to save you a lot of money.
