Get Creative with the Cricut Design Studio Software
One of the perks of owning a Cricut electronic personal die cutter is being able to get picture-perfect cutouts without using a computer. What could you create, though, if you could put your computer to work with your Cricut? Imagine the cutouts you could create if you could use your computer to manipulate your designs. Well, Cricut’s Design Studio Software makes all of your imaginations possible.
The first thing you should know about the Cricut Design Studio software is that it will work with any Cricut machine. Your initial step is to install the software in your computer. Then, you simply have to connect your Cricut to your computer. Whether you’re using the smaller, original Cricut machine or the larger Cricut Expression, you will be able to connect your computer to your Cricut via a USB cable and an open USB port.
Once it’s up and running, the Cricut Design Studio software will allow you to work with letters and shapes from any Cricut cartridges that you own. For instance, you may take individual letters from a font cartridge and “weld” them together to create entire words or phrases. You may also incorporate images and icons from different cartridges into one cutting using this software.
As you introduce images into the Design Studio software you will need to insert the appropriate cartridge into your Cricut machine. Once it’s time to add the next image, you will simply remove the first image’s cartridge, and install the next one. You will, however, be able to avoid this “switching” by using the Cricket Jukebox in conjunction with the Design Studio software.
Besides making it easy to combine designs from multiple Cricut cartridges, the Cricut Design Studio software also allows you to manipulate your images in new ways. Although you were always able to alter an image’s size, the Design Studio software makes it easy to stretch, flip, or even slant your images. You can adjust your image’s appearance until it matches your ideal image exactly.
The Cricut Design Studio software is also a powerful tool for time-saving. After spending hours getting an image to look exactly the way you want it to, the last thing you want is to lose access to your work. With the Design Studio software, you can save your image and access it again on a different day. You can even share images with other crafting friends.
Finally, the Cricut Design Studio software also allows you to preview Cricut cartridges that you don’t already own before you purchase them. The Design Studio software will allow you to view and manipulate software from all of the released Cricut cartridges. You will not be able to send your images to the cutter unless you own the associated cartridges, but being able to explore a cartridge before you plunk down the cash to buy it is a nice benefit.
Once you’ve started seeing the benefits of pairing your personal computer with your Cricut using the Cricut Design Studio software, you will be hard-pressed to return to using your Cricut alone. You’ll be able to create more cutouts in less time, as well as getting the exact cutout you wanted. What a great combination!
