The Sam Adams pint glass has been developed by Samuel Adams Company; the glass is designed to keep the beer tasting fresher and will keep your drink colder for longer periods. The glass is designed for beer enthusiasts and Sam Adams fans alike.

The glass was designed around founder, Jim Koch’s, passion and vision of a great tasting beer, was designed using TIAX sensory and scientific knowledge, and the company Rastal (88 years of glass making experience) designed the pint glass. The glass is specifically designed to give the drinker a great tasting beverage, a clean looking design, and makes for functionality and ease of drinking out of a pint (rather than a bottle.)

The design motto for producers of the Sam Adams pint glass was “function over form”; meaning that developers took all necessary steps to make a functional and well designed glass. One of the top designers (Rastal) in the industry developed the pint, using the “function over form” motto, to create the best beer drinking experience for Sam Adams beer drinkers.

The top of the glass, has an outward turned lip, which allows for the beer to reach the front of one’s palate when drinking. The design is meant to maximize the enjoyment and the sweet taste of the Sam Adams malt beer taste. The upper portion of the glass was developed narrowly, in order to retain the beer’s hop aroma, and in order to sustain the amount of head which forms at the top of the draft beer.

Closer to the base of the pint glass, the design offers a thinner wall frame. The purpose of this design choice is to allow for a rounder shape to maintain and maximize the colder temperature (which is desired by beer drinkers) for a longer period of time. The thinner from detracts the heat from the beer, allowing consumers to drink at a slower pace, yet enjoy a cold tasting beer.

Lastly, the bottom of the pint glass, was designed using a laser etching design. On the bottom portion of the glass, the laser etching allows for the optimal amount of bubbles to form at the base of the pint, and allows for a constant aroma release for the beer drinker’s palate to enjoy for longer periods.

The pint is the end result of scientific research which took a period of two years, involved thousands of hours of taste tests (in turn resulting in dozens of rejected glass styles), and brings consumers the greatest design in a pint glass for optimal enjoyment of their beer drinking experience.
