Automotive – Be Prepared for Flat Tires

Written by scotty | Posted in Automotive |

If you are a girl like me, cars can be intimidating. Car care is something the mechanic does. We don’t do the guy stuff. We ignore it. We pretend the vehicle will run forever with proper magical thinking and ignoring of car dashboards.

What else? We believe tires are made of steel. Not steel-belted… steel. We believe they will last forever. We believe this because if we didn’t, then we’d have to be doing something that we don’t know how to do- like measuring air pressure or shopping for new tires.

Women, and I will say this as a fact, we would rather not think about anything related to cars. Now there is, every so often, the well-informed tomboy of a lady who grew up in a garage helping dad. That woman could be rich telling other women what the thingie-ma-bob what is and what it does. Otherwise, we are totally ignorant.

One of the things we are ignorant of is car safety.

  • Is there a first aid kit in the trunk? We don’t know.
  • How about emergency flares? We don’t know.
  • Is there a flashlight and is it operative? Dunno!
  • What about a fire extinguisher? Gee whiz- we don’t know.
  • Catch a pattern here?

We just figure if we leave it alone everything will be find.

Now here is where it gets really scary. Is there a tire jack in the trunk? Again, don’t know.

This is the one of the emergency automotive accessories that a person should definitely have and know how to use.

Oops, did I say use? We women should take responsibility for getting ourselves out of hot water on the road? Yes, absolutely, by all means yes we should.

Well, I can hear my galfriends saying, isn’t owning a AAA card or other emergency vehicle service enough? Actually it is not.

Scary things can happen out on the road at night when you are a woman alone with a flat tire. Do not put yourself in that situation. Shop for your car tire jack now, seeking great quality at a great price.
