Who can believe that it’s almost that time of year again? The time when we deck the halls, prepare the turkey, travel home and rush around the malls and shops trying to find the perfect present for our nieces and nephews, sons and daughters, and grandchildren.

Christmas is mostly a joyous time of year that we all look forward too but the stress of all that last minute shopping can sometimes take the shine off it. That needn’t be the case.

This year, instead of getting young Jonny or Jane that set of roller skates or that dolls house, why not get them something that will last them a few years and that they will get more enjoyment out of than the latest fad or ‘must have’ toy? Why not get Jonny or Jane an electric guitar for Christmas?

Electric guitars come in all shapes, colors and sizes with many that are suitable for the beginner electric guitar.

Take those made by Squier and Epiphone for example. Squier is a subsidiary of Fender and Epiphone a subsidiary of Gibson. Both Fender and Gibson are world renowned for their history and heritage of making great quality instruments. Their budget lines feature great instruments which are based on their most enduring models like the Stratocaster and Les Paul but are priced at such a cost as to be affordable and accessible for beginners, without skimping on any of the build quality and functionality that their more expensive relatives are famed for.

The great thing about the electric guitar is that it is an instrument that can be modified with accessories that make it personal to the player. All of our favorite guitarists have instruments which become synonymous with them. Why not get your rock goddess a pink guitar strap? Or perhaps the little rock god a pick guard with a custom graphic?

With so much fun to be had by playing in a band with friends and peers an electric guitar is simply an ideal Christmas present!
