Jute Area Rugs for Your Home

Written by T.C. | Posted in Interior Design

Jute is mostly thought of as the material used on the underside of your rugs but it is actually a pretty good choice for area rugs if you are into the minimalist look. The reason for this being that the jute fiber is very easy to dye and is simple to use when creating which are beautifully delicate and last a long time even until heavy use, especially with their natural stain resistant qualities. This makes them great if you have a home that is being bombarded by children or pets on a regular basis.

Naturally, even though they will need cleaning less than most materials you will still need to remove dirt from a jute area rug at some point but thankfully this can be done by hand so you don;t have to use any expensive carpet shampooing methods. Just using your manpower to give the rug a shake and then a rub with a damp cloth will be enough to bring back its new looks most of the time. You should try you best to avoid getting these rugs wet though which can cause them to rot over time, although the same thing can be said for any rug made from natural material. Jute are biodegradable and created using renewable resources so you can be happy with your green credentials when you choose one of this products.

Choices For Environmentally Friendly

If you are environmentally aware but don’t fancy a jute rug then you could always opt for a vintage piece which would mean you were recycling a product all on your own and saving resources by avoiding the manufacturing process. Vintage are a great choice and there are plenty available as they are very tough, so stand the test of time. You definitely don’t have to buy new rugs to give your home a contemporary look!
