If you’ve ever had even more than a passing interest in motor vehicles than you might have noticed that some cars come with an oil pressure gauge on the dashboard. This is a device that is used to show the pressure oil inside the engine. It is not essential for all cars to have oil pressure gauge is because the oil warning light will suffice but does not let you know the actual pressure, only when there is a problem.

Motor oil pressure is very important because without it the oil would simply get swept away by the moving parts that it is trying to lubricate. The pressurized movement of oil around the engine is also needed because motor oil helps to cool the internals. Oil has an opportunity to absorb a lot of heat from the engine because it coats many of its internal surfaces. A large surface area is a critical component of any type of heat transfer. Once the heat has been absorbed the oil needs to be moved on quickly and the pressure of the oil is what controls the speed of its movement.
