Low Rise Jeans for Men
When people think of low rise jeans, the image that usually pops into their head is of a young girl, scantily clad with all sorts of inappropriate bits hanging out! However, worn correctly and on the right body types this style can work wonders for your appearance. Despite the misconception, believe it or not, the low waist look tends to look best on the guys. If you are a man and want to try a new, sexy look, (or a woman shopping for a trendy man), read on to find the best body types for the style and recommendations for some of my favorite picks.
The whole point of wearing a low rise pant is to emphasize the waist and general leanness of the wearer. Guys in general tend to be a bit lankier than women, so more men can pull off this style. It is great paired with a cool belt buckle that you want to display to the world. My biggest tip is to go to a large store / mall / outlet center to be able to try on many different pairs. Men should typically look for a low rise of about 8-10 inches (for women the low rise is much lower, and the rise of a pair of pants is the distance measured between the waistband and the crotch). Also look for a baggier, looser fitting leg. Another way to draw attention to your new duds is to wear a wrist watch! The watch will usually hang around hip level and will draw peoples eyes to your defined shape. A very important thing to look for is that the pair doe snot have stretch. This makes things cling, and that look is best left to the ladies!
With this style there are many different price points. For the frugal, a great low rise jean to try is from the GAP. Last time I checked this style cost only $25! It is called Gap Mens Dark Wash Low Rise Jean. It sits low enough to be considered a low rise, but isn’t too extreme for the beginner. The straighter leg of the jeans make it great to wear with converse like shoes. If you want to jump in head first and try a designer brand I would recommended Stitch’s Low Rise Boot Cut Jean. The denim is a good denim, and is constructed very well. The look is relaxed and it comes in a few washes (colors).
