Mechanics Gloves for Working on Your Car

mechanics-glovesI don’t know about you but when I go into the garage to do some work on the car, my hands get pretty dirty. The best thing is to not worry about it and just get into the work. Your hands will come clean later with some good soap.

But another thing that sometimes happens, I must admit, is that I’ll be cranking on a wrench or something, it’ll give and then my hand will rub against something and I’ll get a cut. Ouch! It hurts a bit more because of all the dirt that’s already in my hands. I have to stop what I’m doing, go clean up, bandage things up and then come back out and continue with what I was doing. What a pain.

So a good idea when your working on your car is to get some mechanics work gloves. Why not? That’s what the pros use. They know that cuts and scrapes can slow you down and time is important. Good mechanic’s gloves will keep your hands protected while still giving you enough precision to thread a nut. In addition to protection, they also keep your hands nice and clean and also warm if it’s cold out. You can simply throw the dirty ones into the washer and no worries. So it’s also a good idea to buy several pairs of gloves so that you always have a clean pair around.

Another type of gloves used for auto repair are called blue dippers. These are knit gloves that have been dipped in blue latex. Many mechanics swear by these gloves and really love them. It’ll be up to you which kind you like best.

I prefer black mechanics gloves with leather and deerskin protection. Gloves like that will not become hardened when they are exposed to water or moisture. They’re rugged and are nice to wear out in the garage.
