A wooden console table is a little bit different from a regular table, it is basically a normal table but with a area below it for storage. You can sometimes find narrow console tables that have glass fronts, which let you show off any collectibles you have, and they are ideal for filling empty spaces in any room. The most popular narrow console table is generally made from wood, you will find them in many homes.

There are a number of things to think about before buying a narrow console table. The first thing is whether you want to go with wood or something a bit more modern. If you opt to use wood you have to decide if you want a light or a dark tone as well as what variety of wood you want to use. You should also give some though as to the number of shelves you will need inside it and if you will want glass or solid wood doors. If you are going to use your narrow console table in a bathroom, and store your spare towels in it, then a solid door is ideal. If on the other hand you intend to use it to show off a collection, or are using it in a public room, like your living room, then you should go for glass doors. For you glass doors you can choose from clear, frosted or tinted glass, in some cases you can even get stained glass.

Narrow console tables normally come in either mission or butler styles, but many dealers will also add a hutch option too. The best place to shop is at local furniture dealers, but the Internet also has a great selection to choose from. The only problem when buying online is that a narrow console table can weigh quite a bit, especially if made from oak, or with glass doors, so shipping charges can be quite substantial. Unless the seller you are looking at offers free shipping then you might be best shopping locally.
