Novice Kindle User Review

Since I have only owned my electronic reader for a couple of months I think I am well placed to write a novice Kindle review.

Before I purchased the latest generation Kindle, I had never seen or used one of these devices before. So I based my purchasing decision quite heavily upon the specification information on the Amazon website. This is the only place that you can buy one. The information that they provide is very comprehensive. The worry that I had though was that they were over hyping the device. So when I got it, would I be pleased or disappointed? One piece of good news was that it arrived ahead of schedule. I was happy about this.

When you first open the box containing your Kindle, you will find that you have to charge it for a little while before it will function properly. This is because the battery contains a very limited amount of charge. I plugged it into my computer’s USB connection. The other option is to connect it to an electrical wall power outlet. Then when it has some charge, you can start to play. It comes with a user manual on the Kindle reader itself as well as a hard copy of the quick start guide. It is a good idea to read this just so you are able to quickly navigate around. It is not all that difficult but it can be a bit confusing if you do not know what you are doing.

The electronic ink system is very easy to read. I have no idea how it works but I really like it. You need a good light source otherwise you will find it is just like reading a normal book in very little light. So unlike computer screens that are back lit, there is no internal source of light on a Kindle. You may not like the sound of this. However the idea is that it reads like a book and not a computer. One of the big benefits to this style of reader is that it is very kind to your eyes. I find that if my eyes are sore from too much time on my PC, I can relax by reading my Kindle.
