Prescription Colored Contacts

Prescription colored contacts do enhance the beauty of the eyes but please be aware that there are legalities behind purchasing contact lenses of any kind. If you are looking for colored contacts without prescription, then you need to know that it is mandatory by law to have a prescription from a doctor. If you should just so happen to see contacts lenses being sold in stores; such as, gas stations or other types of businesses; such as, a beauty salon, flea market or barber shop – they are actually being sold illegally.

Color contacts come in an array of colors: blue, green, gray, shades of brown and shades of purples. There are even some colors made for theatrical purposes or for Halloween costumes such as red – used to give the person eyes the effect of a vampire.

There are three types of prescription colored contacts:

• visibility
• enhancement
• color tint

Visibility colored contacts are for people who need corrective lens but prefer not to wear eyeglasses. The tint in this type of contact usually is a slight blue or green. The sole purpose of this type of tint is for easy insertion and removal of the contact within the eye. Also, the tint makes it easier to find a lens if one is dropped or lost. Visibility colored contacts will not change the color of the eyes.

Enhancement colored tints are translucent meaning you can see through the color. They magnifies or bring out the natural color of ones eyes but do not change the color. This type of lens is made for light color eyes.

Thirdly, there are colored tint contact lenses. Colored tint contacts are opaque which means you can’t see through them. You can actually change the natural color of your eyes as often as you like–For example, brown eyes can be turned green and visa versa.

Prescription colored contacts do have a disadvantage. They can sometimes slip out of position while blinking which can interfere with your vision. Most people will experience this once in a great while but not too often. This happens more if you contact lenses for astigmatism.

As a precautionary measure, never share contacts with others. There is a great possibility of getting bacteria in the eyes which could lead to major infection. If this situation would to occur, seek medical attention right away.

Prescription colored contacts are not only a wonderful alternative to eyeglasses but a very practical way to help beautify your eyes.
