Staying warm on the patio can be more difficult than first anticipated. The secret lies in a series of outdoor heating products called propane fire pits. Fire pits have been around for a long time, but never in the form of a gas powered heating unit. Many types of outdoor heaters use propane as fuel, but none are so interactive and interesting to look at. Fire pits create a controlled and contained fire which is safe to burn even close to the home. Set it on a patio or out in the open without worry of the fire spreading.

Propane fire pits are unique in that they burn the propane out in the open for all to see. This creates prominent and distinct flames which users can watch. The flames have a tendency to sway in the wind, casting alternating orange light onto the surrounding people and objects. These flames aren’t just for looks, however. Propane flames are very good at heating several people at one time. Even though the heat is quite powerful, it can be controlled very easily. The propane runs from the source (a fuel tank) and travels through a tube where it emerges from a burner. The rate of flow is controlled by the valve on the tank.

Raising the flow will result in a more powerful flame, while lowering it will reduce the heat. Control like this ensures that everyone stays comfortable no matter how many are present. The stylish and appealing exteriors of these pits make them appealing pieces of decor. Most are light enough to move around with one or two people. However, always be sure that the propane fire pit is cool and turned off before moving it. Larger models cannot be moved because they are designed to be built into a wall or brick structure.
