Repairing your Lightweight Luggage with Wheels

Lightweight luggage with wheels are a great help for any traveler, especially when you don’t want to carry a big bag by yourself. However, you can sometimes end up wrecking the most important component of the luggage: its wheels. But when you do break a wheel on your bag, you don’t really have to worry. You don’t need to buy a new set of luggage, since repairing the broken wheel is cheaper; you can even fix it on your own!

You can follow these four simple steps in repairing your broken lightweight luggage with wheels. You will need a screwdriver and a new set of wheels.

Just a reminder: there are some luggage that do not have removable wheels. If your luggage is like this, it is advisable that you call the manufacturer, or bring it to a luggage shop.

First, remove the old wheels. You can use a screwdriver to do this. There iz some luggage that use rivets to hold the wheels in place. These can be pulled out to free the wheels.

If you haven’t done so, get new wheels. When buying new wheels for your luggage, make sure you get the right size. Buying a wheel a size too small or too big can hinder in the repair of your luggage.

Screw the new wheels onto your luggage. Use a screwdriver, or put back the rivets. Once installed, properly tighten the screws of your wheels to avoid any unnecessary accidents, and double check. Try to push and pull your luggage to see if the repair was done successfully.

To prevent any mishap on your wheels when traveling, especially through air, double check that the wheels are attached properly because the luggage is usually tossed about a lot during the flight, and are vulnerable to damage. You can also maintain your lightweight luggage with wheels by lubricating its joints, and checking your bag for any other damage, so that you can get to it immediately before it gets out of hand.
