When you are out shopping for toys for you children or grandchildren it seems as though everything out there requires batteries. Purchasing replacement batteries over and over again gets quite expensive.

Battery operated electronics are powered by batteries also. What child or teenager doesn’t have an electronic game or music device of some kind that doesn’t need new batteries every other day? There are rechargeable batteries available and are quite a bit more expensive to buy initially compared to regular batteries but over time you will see that rechargeable batteries really are the way to go. You can keep a set charging at all times so you will have one ready when one runs out of power. Rechargeable batteries seem to hold their charge a lot longer than regular batteries in most cases but even they will hold less and less of a charge and will need to be replaced.

One way to keep your rechargeable batteries lasting longer is to not over charge them. For example, if you keep your laptop plugged in overnight without it being on, then it will get charged in a few hours but after that, it’s being overcharged. Doing that over and over will cause it to hold less and less of a charge. So only plug it in to charge it when you are using it. If it needs to be charged, then have it on while it’s sitting there being charged.

Watch batteries also need to be replaced from time to time. For this, you may need a special tool to open and close the watch if the watch is rated to be waterproof at all. For other watches, you are able to change the battery.

Electric shavers are also an item that needs its battery replaced from time to time. They last much longer than the battery that comes with them. A normal shaver can easily go through 5 or more batteries in its life and still run fine. So if your shaver isn’t running smoothly, try changing the battery. Some shaver batteries can easily be changed out while others require a tiny bit of soldering to replace. A local electronics shop can easily do that for you for just a few dollars. Just bring in the new battery and your shaver for them to work on.
