We are used to traveling America’s highways and seeing neat little houses beside the roads. We have become accustomed to that silly but quaint custom of those white picket fences with flowers growing by them. We even stop and take pictures of the unusual lawn ornaments with which people adorn their yards. American flags wave proudly from porches with swings and rocking chairs all across this great land of ours. We are also beginning to become accustomed to outdoor security cameras.

The Sad Truth of the Matter

It is a sad but very true fact that many more American homeowners have had to resort to a wireless outdoor security camera system in order fell safe and secure. Even in rural areas, where we used to leave our windows open and doors unlocked, crime is up astonishingly. It takes more than an outdoor security camera to feel safe these days. In fact, more real estate leads are people who want outdoor security camera systems pre-installed before they view a house for sale.

We Always Blame the Economy

The economy might be to blame for the recent rise in crime and if this is true, it is also the reason that sales of outdoor security camera systems is on the rise as well. This is a win, lose, scenario since crime is obviously bad but increased sales means more jobs for American workers. Still, it is sad to know that the beautiful little houses that used to feel so safe must now be guarded against theft of property. How much longer before the screens are replaced with bars and those quaint little white picket fences are replaced with chain-link fence and barbed wire.

Goodbye Picket Fence

With any luck, the wireless outdoor security camera will solve the problem as the economy strengthens and more people go back to work. In the meanwhile, I guess we should get used to seeing the outdoor security camera and try to pretend that it is a piece of Americana. Although somehow, I doubt that Norman Rockwell would have painted one into any of his beautiful portraits.
