Best Material for a Single Bed Duvet Cover
Single Bed Duvet Cover
The fun part when shopping for a duvet for a single bed is shopping for a single bed duvet cover. The duvet’s cover is where you can let your imagination run wild by visualizing what a bedroom might look like. The only problem is to know where to start looking for a single sized duvet along with a single bed duvet cover.
Stores that sell duvets can also sell you a single bed duvet cover in their bedding department. When purchasing a duvet, it’s highly recommended that a duvet cover be purchased too. The reasons for this have to do with protecting the duvet from regular use and, of course, for decorative purposes. Duvets themselves tend to me utilitarian whereas a duvet cover provides the function of protecting the duvet and giving the room a decorative touch. Since they’re usually bought as a set, it’s important that the duvet and duvet cover also match in quality. Both should be made of natural fibers.
When shopping for a single duvet cover, it might be useful to have some background on the origins of duvets and duvet covers. The first duvet was a feather filled blanket used in France. Duvets started to flourish throughout Europe afterwords because of the harsh winters. Duvets didn’t arrive in the United States until many years later. For some reason, duvets have been called “comforters” in the United States though, depending where you buy it, they may not necessarily be the same. A common characteristic between the two is that they are designed for optimal warmth in bed in the winter and are usually filled with duck or goose down. The design between the two may differ slightly but they both serve the same purpose.
So what would be the difference? The duvet is more like a thick blanket filled with natural fibers and the comforter, also filled with natural fibers, is thicker and bulkier. There are duvets filled with synthetic fiber but are generally not recommended even if they’re cheaper in price.
When buying single bed duvet cover, the same consideration should be accorded to its make and fabric as you do for a good duvet. The fabric should be made of natural fibers like cotton and not synthetic polyester fabric. To be covered by a synthetic fabric may be just as uncomfortable as when using a duvet with synthetic fill.
