The Effects of Plastic Surgery

Just like everything else, plastic surgery has good and bad effects. To most people, plastic surgery is actually a gift. It gives them hope that one day they will achieve the kind of body that they want. To others, it is costly and impractical.

This kind of procedure has both physical and psychological effects. This means that you will not only see the changes made to your body, but you will also feel them and it will reflect in your behavior. The first thing that you will notice after you come out of surgery is that you are swollen, bandaged and bruised. During this operation, huge doses of anesthesia are given to you in order for you to not feel the pain, but when you wake up and as the anesthesia wears off, you start to feel more pain until you begin to heal.

Doctors may instruct you not to engage in strenuous activities in the first few months after the surgery to avoid bleeding and to avoid tearing your stitches that may lengthen your healing time.

The effect that most people long for after plastic surgery is to have the kind of body they always dreamed of. If you have unrealistic expectations about this, this can come out as a disappointment for you. You may regret having undergone surgery if it cannot give you the thing you want, and sometimes regrets turn to depression, anger and anxiety disorders.

On the other hand, if you come out of surgery and you find out that you are pleased with the results, you may be more confident and outgoing. It may give you a more positive outlook in life.  It is important that before undergoing such major procedures, you are aware of what to expect so that you won’t have a hard time dealing with it.
