XP Repair Pro Review

Everywhere you look online, there are registry cleaners and optimizers available for improving computer performance and reliability. This XP Repair Pro review looks at why this registry cleaner has already had 3 million customers and sees if the 2010 version is any good.

The latest version is a small download and quick installation to start with. The product also pulls down the latest updates for registry/system checks to run. As it stands, this is currently a list of 60,000 computer faults that XP Repair Pro checks on your computer.

The simplified scan will fix PC errors quite rapidly and for many non-technical users this may be the sole part of the product that they use (which is no harm as it works quite well checking the registry for those 60000 faults).

Advanced users are catered for too with a list of customized scans that they can run. The documentation covers what each of them is so if you are into tuning your computer then the advanced scans are worth looking into (as are the online forums for suggestions).

The new version has done like their registry cleaner competitors and included a number of added features to attract new customers. Of these, the best would appear to be the registry defragmenter that can tweak the registry to optimize access to commonly used keys (benefiting all users of the computer).

The other value-added features include a cleaning tool for removing temporary/cached files from hard drives, anonymous internet connectivity (via their web servers) and a tool for disabling start-up services. These are nice to have but equally available as freeware PC maintenance tools elsewhere.

As with any XP Repair Pro review I’ve seen, the new version isn’t a huge leap on last year’s version but in terms of its core functionality it is still highly capable of fixing registry files thanks to the dynamic database of faults to check for.
